Chelsea FC: The Digital Stadium
The Player
Roses & Footballs
Through the combined amalgam of glowing pitch lines, crystal rain, and canyon landscape, this scene was inspired by the isolated and heightened emotions of the football player during the last 10 minutes of The Game.
On the Football pitch, the symbols of the two Roses and two footballs are a direct reference towards the iconic Chelsea Crest, emblematic of 'England' and 'the game of soccer'. The glowing pitch lines, inspired by Joel Lines print, highlight the energy and passion surrounding the games, portraying an alternative design of how football can be played in the future. With the Player wearing the bodysuit designed by Sofia Castellon and Kana Takahashi, the falling crystal raindrops were inspired by Stella Satie's resin hand dyed top and beaded accessories.

In the end the setting sun is representative of the sense of hope after the game, the imminent future of the Player coming back home with rejoiced victory.

The Football Fan
One Life, One Love, One Club
The anticipation and excitement grows with the last ten minutes of the game. The music produced by Thomas Graham reflects the fans’ cheers and chants that intensify as they try to become one with the players. The landscape reflects the connectivity that bring the players and the fans into singularity.
The iconic Chelsea blue shade visible on the sky dancer, stairs and the walls are an ode to the players’ uniform which has been worn since 1906. Meanwhile, the shade of red in some parts of the scene is a nod to the Chelsea Pensioners with whom the club has shared a close bond, which has also featured in the Chelsea club badge until 1952 and now in 2018/19 season in the away uniform and the secondary colour of the kit.
The sky dancer was inspired by Kana Takahashi and Sofia Castellon’s inflatable head piece of the Player. It is a playful reminder of the fans’ devotion to the club, most of whom have been attending games since childhood.
The Chelsea logo features prominently on the fans’ coat and trousers designed by Danny Kozyrev. The slogan behind them, ‘One Life, One Love, One Club’ is a slogan commonly used by Chelsea fans to show their unwavering support for the club.

"Football is perhaps the last spectacle which is able to create an open and intense social relationship. Nobody is forced to come to the stadium. Nobody is made to sing"

The Goalkeeper
The Chelsea Blue
As you enter the realm of the Goalkeeper, you wander around the rhythmic arrangement of frozen net structures that were inspired by the shapes of the goalpost’s net. The organic shapes of the complex architecture creates a sense of time being slowed down by capturing the movement in the air, accompanied with a soundscape of historical moments of Chelsea FC.
It is as if you are travelling through an imaginary time tunnel. The roller coaster-like ride through the space is a reflection of the intensified anticipation of the opponent reaching the goal that ultimately faces the Goalkeeper. You are then surrounded by a display of over-looming structures that was designed to compliment the architectural shape of the garment designed by knitwear designer, Christopher De La Cruz.
The arena was built upon an understructure that has been richly illuminated by the Chelsea FC’s signature blue. On it, stands the Goalkeeper confident in their realm of defence. With the tightly-knitted woven structures that shapes the closing defence of the arena, this is the Goalkeeper’s reimagined last 10 minutes of The Game.
